ITOne S.r.l is an IT service company based in Fino Mornasco, Italy. They offer various professional services including installing storage and virtualization solutions, managing helpdesks, and monitoring. Their business focuses on enhancing customer data security by providing backup solutions and building complete disaster recovery plans.
ITOne realized that there was no suitable central repository for their internal IT environment. They previously used open source solutions (such as FreeNAS) but the performance did not meet their requirements. ITOne was looking for an affordable solution that was both easy to implement and use, and can also reach the support desk in the event of failure.
After discovering QuTScloud , ITOne started running a QuTScloud instance in VMware vSphere and used passthrough to an SAS controller that provides thirteen physical drives (configured by SSD, SAS and SATA drives) dedicated to QuTScloud. ITOne tested this appliance with QuTScloud for data sharing using CIFS and at datastores in vSphere through NFS/iSCSI.
As soon as ITOne started managing company data on a VM with QuTScloud, they found that it was very easy to manage, and the performance was incredible – reaching 150-200 Mbps to an NFS datastore in their lab environment. They used passthrough to manage an external SAS enclosure and everything also worked well. QuTScloud also surprised them as the user experience is near-identical to QNAP's QTS NAS operating system, and the feature-rich QTS apps they are familiar with were also available. ITOne is convinced that QuTScloud has big potential for providing customers with efficiency improvements considering its performance, easy management and affordable licensing.
